Fort Lauderdale is Florida's 7th
largest city. Since changing it's image from
a rowdy spring break hangout in the 80's, Fort
Lauderdale is now a world class family resort
destination full of fine dining, great shopping,
culture, nightlife, sporting venues & public
parks.
Because of the many canals
connecting much of the city, Fort Lauderdale is
considered by locals as "The Venice of
America". This in-turn creates a
fantastic atmosphere for both locals & travelers.
The beach district stretches
7-miles to the north & south. The
beachfront promenade, lined with specialty shops,
sidewalk cafe's and elegant restaurants features
the famed wave wall architecture. On the
beach itself, there are many vendors offering wave
skiing, para sailing and other water sport
activities.
The historic district is called
The Riverwalk and is a destination within a
destination. There are parks, museums,
attractions, shops and educational institutions
which extend from Las Olas Boulevard to the
Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
Parks and facilities managed by
the parks & recreation department in Fort
Lauderdale are first rate. The Fort
Lauderdale Aquatic Complex is one of the finest
aquatic centers and is home to the International
swimming Hall Of Fame.
